Blog - Trigger Stacking

Ever had one of those mornings where nothing seems to go right?

You stub your toes getting changed. Toothpaste drops on your black shirt. You forgot your keys. Then, just as you finally get in the car, someone pulls out in front of you... and boom!

One stressor after another, without a chance for you to regain calm, is classed as trigger stacking.

And some days you can cope with a big stack, whereas other days not so much.

The same is true for our dogs - even the most well-mannered, well-trained dogs can react negatively under a piling up of pressure, and if an incident occurs, it might seem out of character, but chances are it’s the stacking up of triggers that has tipped them over.
